英語のリスニング力を強化しようと思ってアメリカのドラマを見てみようと考え中の人にBoston Legalをオススメします このドラマは2004年からアメリカで放送されているコメディーで、ボストンの法律事務所が舞台になっています。とても人気で、シリーズ化されており、現在、最後のシリーズが放送中です。 このドラマでのメインキャラクター弁護士であるAlan Shore (ジェームズ・スペイダー)と Denny Crane (ウィリアム・シャトナー – 彼は1960年代のドラマStar TrekでKirk 大佐を演じていた ) は、ドラマの中で親友として硬い愛情で結ばれています。(ゲイとかそういうのではないですよ…)

このドラマは、速い展開で、社会的(銃・安楽死などの社会問題)、倫理的問題、そして幸福とお金の追求、その兼ね合いの様子といった結構重たい内容が毎回出てくるのですが、それでも笑えるシーンもたくさんあり、見ていて本当に面白いです。裁判所での人間関係のもつれや、法律事務所での浮気などの昼ドラのようなドロドロした内容があることもこのドラマのおもしろい点です。メイン俳優たちの絶妙なコンビネーションがたまりません!!このドラマは私が最近はまっているものでオススメ度大です

If you are thinking about watching a TV series to practice listening to English, I recommend Boston Legal. It is a series that is into it’s final series and it is brilliant. It is a comedy-drama, set in a legal firm in Boston.  The two key characters Alan Shore (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner – who was Captain Kirk in the 1960’s show Star Trek) are magical together as best friends who have a  man-love affair (not gay, just best friends).

There are political story-lines (the right to have guns; euthanasia etc) but the show stays interesting and fun despite these heavy themes.  There is plenty of in-court drama and of course the office love affairs to keep things interesting.  But the magic of the show is the slightly craziness of the two main characters.  It is my favorite show at the moment and I highly recommend it!
