What to say in bed...

MIXI(Facebookの日本語バージョン)のとある英語グループに“ひと夏の軽いロマンス”というお題でトピックを立てました。というのも、みんなはそういった短期間のロマンスを体験したことがあるのか、どうやってその関係が始まったのか知りたかったからです。私の友だちが実際に”ひと夏の恋”を体験してるのを見ていて、これは夏にはピッタリの話題だと思ったんです♪

“カジュアルセックス(軽い気持ちのセックス)は決して自慢できるものではない!!”という感じのとても短いコメントが早速返ってきました。実の所、これは私と同じニュージーランド出身の男性からだったんです!ニュージランドの男性はみんなセックスできるという機会があれば飛びつくと思っていましたが…。そして、そのコメントを見て思ったのですが、カジュアルセックスって、今の時代、そんなに恥じなきゃいけないものなのでしょうか? 何故恥ずかしいって思うのでしょうか？

私は、何をするにも人それぞれ考え方が違うといつも思っています。カジュアルセックスは楽しくって、そのとき、その瞬間、すごく必要なモノだったりするという人もいるだろうし、逆に永遠にカジュアルセックスを認められない人もいます。でも、どっちにしてもそれを恥に思うって言うのは、かなり断定的で批判的な考え方だと思いません? 何かを恥じるってことは、自分自身に正直でいられなくって、いつも自分のどこかを隠す必要があるっていうことです。「カジュアルセックスは恥じるべきモノだ!」とだけ断言してしまうと、他の人の意見をシャットダウンしてしまい自分の意見は正しい、その他の意見は間違ってると言ってるようなものですよね…。

人は皆それぞれ違う考え方を持っているものだし、そういうことを受け入れられるような世界になってきていると思っていたのですが、おそらくまだ一部の人は他の人をジャッジすることになんとも思わないのでしょうね。型にはまった頑固な考え方は、もう昔の話だと私は思っていたのですが、今回のコメントを見てまだまだこういう人はいるんだなーと思いました。時代が変わっても、こういったことは繰り返されてずっと残っていくのでしょうね。

I put a post up on an English chat group on Mixi about holiday flings (Mixi is the equivalent of Facebook in Japan).  I wanted to know about whether people had had them and how to start them.  It was after my friend had stayed and had a small holiday romance – it seemed like a good post for the summer!

I had a very short comment (actually from another Kiwi!  And a guy, here I was thinking Kiwi guys would all jump at the chance to have a shag!) about casual sex not being something to be proud of.  It made me wonder: is it shameful to have had casual sex now?  And why is it shameful?

I have always thought that everyone is different: for some people casual sex is fun, and what they need or want at the moment.  For some people it will never be right for them.  But to be ashamed (of either way) is surely a step backwards and judgmental.  To be ashamed means you can’t be honest about who you are, you will need to hide part of yourself.  To say that casual sex is shameful is putting your beliefs ahead of someone else’s, saying that you are right and someone else is wrong.

I thought the world had become more accepting of people’s differences, but perhaps in some areas of life it is still ok to judge others.   I thought we had moved on from being so uptight, but obviously not.  Maybe these trends repeat themselves.

Expectations:
It is very important that you both want the same thing from the relationship (ie sex!) and nothing else.  It is not OK to change your mind and act resentfully that your partner still wants the same thing (ie just sex).  It is OK to talk about it if you change your mind, but only once and if your fuck-buddy doesn’t feel the same way, you should stop the arrangement.

下記の項目は、セフレに対して一般的に「こうであって欲しいな～」と思われていることです。でももしお互いが同意すればあなた自身で好きなルールを作ることも出来ますよ。

1. もしあなたのセフレが仕事の為に早起きしないといけなくてあなたを家に残して去らなければならない場合、その相手が戻ってくる前までにあなたは帰るべきである。
2. 一般的に朝はあまり長居しない方が良い。
3. 酔っ払っている時に愛の告白などしないように。
4. 夜中でもメールか電話でセックスできるか確認できる事。

6. 嫉妬したり怒ったりするのはタブー。（もしあなたが彼にフェラをしたのに彼はあなたにクンニをしてくれない場合だけ怒ってもいいです！）
7. あなたの持ち物（歯ブラシ、ピアス、ベルト、下着）を彼の家に残さない（注意を引く為の策略だと見られる）
8. 彼の服を持って帰るな！
9. 彼の歯ブラシを使うな！
10. 公共の場、友達の前で抱きついたりキスをしたりロマンチックな行動をとるな！

There seems to be some general expectations about fuck-buddies, but as with all things, you can make your own rules up, as long as you both agree:
1.    If your buddy has to get up early from their place for work and leaves you sleeping, you should be gone by the time they get back.
2.    And generally you shouldn’t stay too long in the morning.
3.    No drunken declarations of love please!
4.    You can text all call late at night to see if your fuck buddy is free for a “booty call”.
5.    No talking about the “relationship”, there isn’t one, there is just sex!
6.    There is no jealousy or anger in this relationship (well the only annoyance is if you go down on him and he doesn’t go down on you…then you have every right to be annoyed!).
7.    Do not leave your things (toothbrush, earrings, belt, underwear) at your fuck buddy’s home (this is seen as a trick for more attention).
8.    Do not take your fuck-buddy’s clothing.
9.    Do not use your fuck-buddy’s toothbrush.
10.  Do not act romantically (ie hugging, kissing) in front of friends and in public.
