Sex and the City DVD – シーズン 1

彼氏が仕事があった雨降りの日曜日の午後、私は セックスアンドザシティーのシーズン1 を見て過ごしました。以前にもう既にシーズン1は見たことがあったのですが、もう一度見なおしてみて、なんだか昔の友人に久しぶりに会うかのような懐かしい気持ちになりました☆何回みても良いもんですよ♪ まだ一度もこのドラマをみた事がないあなた! ラッキーですよ!! これから先、このドラマを見るという新たな楽しみができること間違いなしです

4人の女友達Carrie、 Miranda、 Charlotte、 Samanthaは最初のシーズンから既に硬い友情で結ばれています。シーズン1ではすでに彼女らの軽い男性関係もたくさん出てきちゃいます。Carrie と Mr Bigの出会いのシーンもこの中に出てきます。Carrieが彼との付き合いの中で大小色々な悩みや怒りを感じることに注目してみてください。 (このシリーズでも、一番最新の映画でもMr.Bigは同じようなことをしでかして彼女を怒らせますが…。) 出合って間もない頃彼女がMr.Bigに”Have you ever been in love?”「今まで生きてきて誰かに恋したことある?」と聞くシーンがあるのですが、彼は*”Abso-fucking-lutely.” 「もちろん」と返答しました。なぜ彼がこう答えたかは後々明らかになっていきます。

セックスアンドザシティーは、女性向け(でもこの物語を書いてるのはゲイの男性です)ドラマですが、セックスに興味があり、英語を勉強している男性ならこのドラマから学べるものは多いと思います。このドラマの中では”Modelizers”(モデルとだけ付き合う男性)や”男性のように軽い関係のセックスを好む女性”などのトピックも扱われています。Charlotteは彼女の大人のおもちゃ、バイブに夢中になるエピソードが入っているこのシーズンは結構面白くて、Samanthaはいつも軽い女なのにこのシーズンでは恋に落ちようとチャレンジしてみたり、Miranda はレズビアンの女性のパートナーに間違って選ばれ、3Pをしようと考えたりとすっごく面白い話題満載です!!

雨が降りそうな週末、友達を集めて一緒にこのドラマをみてみてはどうでしょうか?

*”Abso-fucking-lutely.” “absolutely”(もちろん)と”fuck”(くそっ)を混ぜて言葉の意味にインパクトを与える言い方であまり日常的には使いません。(ジョークで使うことはあります)

英語訳：I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon when the Mr was working, watching the entire first series of Sex and the City.  It was like catching up with an old dear friend and I recommend revisiting it yourself. If you haven’t seen the start of Sex and the City, you are lucky as you have something great to look forward to!

The four friends, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha are already firm friends when the series starts and it takes you through the lighter moments of their relationships.  We get to see Carrie and Mr Big meeting for the first time, and then watch as Carrie has minor and major freak outs about the relationship (nothing really changes in the following seasons and the movie then!). At one of the first times they meet, she asks him “Have you ever been in love?” and he replies “Abso-fucking-lutely.” – is a classic scene in the show, and means even more if you know the story to follow.

It is a show aimed at women (actually written by gay men and targeted at women) but I think guys who are interested in sex and studying English could get a lot from it as well.  There are topics covered such as “Modelizers” who rather than being a womanizer who is obsessed with women, these men are obsessed with models (only in New York, right?) and women who have sex like men (having sex with no strings).  Charlotte becomes addicted to her vibrator, which has to be one of the funniest episodes and Samantha has the challenge of falling in love, which is just not her style.  Miranda is mistaken for a lesbian and thinks about having a threesome, all good fun!

So get a group of girlfriends together the next time it is a rainy weekend and catch up with your old friends, its great to see them again!
